Bryton Gore is an Australian contemporary artist and founder of GORE, an independent art and design practice established in 2013.

For over a decade, Bryton Gore has built visual identities for others. Now she's turning the same research and design methodology towards her own artistic vision.

Her independent practice is rooted in Romantic Brutalism, a personal visual language that finds beauty in brutality. Through a method she calls Controlled Ugliness, Gore gives STUDYING darkness, distortion and emotional weight structure, precision and restraint.

Her latest visual thesis, Australian Gothic™ by GORE, applies the principles of branding to the Australian landscape. Red earth, weatherboards, winter light and spectral figures become the foundations of a distinct visual world, one that explores Australian identity through beauty, unease and atmosphere.

Working across painting, photography, digital image-making and objects, Gore treats each body of work as a world with its own identity, following the concept into whatever medium it demands.

BEAUTIFULLY WRONG.
